Robert Rubinstein

Robert’s late father, Bill, was a founding partner of H&R Developments. Robert served for many years as the president of H&R Property Management Ltd., and continues to serve on the Executive Committee of H&R Developments.

He established Canadel Development Ltd., a family-owned firm which has built notable residential projects in the State of Israel.

Robert earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in Philosophy at the University of Toronto, where he lectured for ten years before deciding to concentrate on his business career.

In addition to having been president of the Canada-Israel Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Robert has held leadership positions in various communal and educational organizations in Toronto. He is also an award-winning author.

Robert brings vast experience to his position as chairman of Ruby Ventures. He is responsible for leading investment strategy and providing support to all facets of Ruby Ventures’ operations.

Ilan Rubinstein

Principal

Prior to co-founding Ruby Ventures, Ilan Rubinstein served as a principal at several New York City-based real estate development firms including HFZ Capital Group, First Dominion Developments and Dalan Holdings. He has extensive experience in all areas of real estate acquisitions, finance, development, leasing and asset management.

Ilan graduated magna cum laude with a BA in Philosophy and History from Yeshiva University, and received an MS in Real Estate Development and Investment from New York University.

As Principal, Ilan is responsible for originating and developing a variety of real estate development projects as well as private equity investments across a spectrum of industries and markets.

Erez Rubinstein

Principal

Prior to co-founding Ruby Ventures, Erez Rubinstein worked in several New York City-based real estate development and finance firms including the Carlton Group and the Urban Builders Collaborative. Erez also served as a principal in the Canadel Group, focused on real estate development in Eastern Europe. Erez founded and continues to serve as CEO of Odem Electric Billing Services Inc. in Toronto.

Erez graduated with a BA in Philosophy from York University, an MBA from Bar Ilan University and an MS in Real Estate from New York University.

As Principal, Erez is responsible for managing fund allocations and overseeing project performance across the Ruby Ventures portfolio.

Jeremy Pertman

Principal

Jeremy previously worked for Pfizer Pharmaceuticals as an epidemiologist in their Safety and Risk Management Division. In addition to his epidemiologic research and peer-reviewed publications, Jeremy has worked in China and the US on health policy and systems reform, and has experience in non-profit fund development and operations. He is also the founder and past president of the Calgary Healthcare Improvement Network.

Jeremy received a BASc in Biomedical Sciences (Distinction) from McGill University, an SM in Epidemiology from the Harvard School of Public Health, and an MD from the University of Calgary School of Medicine.

As Principal, Jeremy is responsible for managing internal operations and external communications, including public and investor relations.

Yaakov Nagar

Controller

Yaakov Nagar is an accountant with vast experience, having worked for many years in both the public and private sectors in Israel, the US, and Canada.

Yaakov holds CA and CPA designations in the Province of Ontario, the State of New York and the State of Israel. He also has an MBA from Laurentian University and a BA in Business Administration from the College of Management in Tel Aviv, Israel.

As the controller of Ruby Ventures, Yaakov is responsible for day-to-day financing activities, international taxation planning, and long-term financial strategy.

Jerry Spano

Director of Development

Jerry Spano is an experienced and respected industry professional, having assumed Owner’s Representative roles in various development projects in New York City, throughout the US, and internationally. Prior to joining Ruby Ventures, Jerry worked for Scion & Stock and for Swig Equities.

Jerry is a registered New York State architect with a BArch from Syracuse University and a MS in Real Estate Development from New York University.

As Director of Development, Jerry is responsible for managing the consultant team and the development process for Ruby Ventures’ 11 Greene Street project.

Daniel Septimus

Director of Operations

Daniel is an experienced entrepreneur and non-profit executive. He is Executive Director of The Sefaria Project and was, previously, CEO of MyJewishLearning, Inc., an Internet company founded by the late Edgar Bronfman.

Daniel graduated summa cum laude with a BA in Religious Studies and Philosophy from the University of Pennsylvania, and received an MA in Creative Writing from the University of Manchester.

As Director of Operations, Daniel works out of the US office and oversees Ruby Ventures’ US-based activities.
